JHB105 ITH Fresh Strawberries Coaster set 5x7 freebie

This freebie will fit the 4x4 hoop.  I am sure it will brighten up your next tea party:-}

This is an in the hoop project. Everything gets completed in the hoop. Your embroidery, lining and batting all gets done and attached through various steps.

You can either use water soluble vilene - NOT THE PLASTIC - or cut away stabilizer to do this project. I prefer cut away and allthough I need to cut my coasters and squares out of my stabilizer afterwards, I just burn away the little bit of fuzzies with a lighter. The advantage is that I dont have to try and get rid of the the glue of the water soluble vilene, but the choise is yours.

Allthough each design shows a lot of color changes, their is in effect not that many. Various color stops has been put in place to allow your machine to stop to enable you to do various functions.

My thread of choise is Marathon thread, and I will give you the colors that I have used, but you are of course very welcome to use colors of your choise.

Instructions on how to do your freebie

When we do the strawberry coaster it is very important to note that after we have secured the compressed batting, what ever you do on top of the hoop, must also at the same time happen at the bottom of the hoop. In other words, if you change a thread color on top, you must also change your bobbin with the same color. If you float fabric on top, you must also float the same fabric underneath. This will create a total reversable coaster. Always cut away excess batting and fabric as close as possible to the stithes. If you nip any stithes here, it does not matter as lots of other stitches is going to go over it. It will give you nice finished edges.

Color 1 - you can thread your machine up with the red that we are going to do the satin stitches in around the fruit it self, with the same color in your bobbin. We will be using this color for the first 5 steps.

Hoop up with your stabilizer of choise only. Stitch the first color line directly onto your stabilizer. This is a placement line of where your batting is gonna go. Use compressed batting only. After the placement line have stitched, float your batting over the placement line and secure with color number 2. Remove hoop from the machine, BUT NOT THE DESIGN OUT OF THE HOOP, and cut away excess batting.
Place hoop back on machine. Stitch color number 3, which is a placement line of where the fruits fabric gonna go. Float your red fabric under your hoop with the right side facing down, and then your red fabric on top with the right side facing up. Stitch down with color number 4. Remove hoop from machine, BUT NOT THE DESIGN OUT OF THE HOOP, and cut away excess red fabric on top of the hoop, as well as underneath the hoop. Put hoop back on machine and stitch color number 5, which is the satin stitches around the fruit.
Change thread color to white number 1179, remember to also change your bobbin to white, and stitch color number 6, which is your candlewick stitches on top of the fruit.
Change thread color to green number 1290, also change your bobbin to green, and stitch color number 7, the placement line of where your green fabric will go. Float green fabric underneath the hoop, right side facing down, and then on top of the hoop, right side facing up. Stitch down with color number 8. Remove hoop from the machine, BUT NOT THE DESIGN OUT OF THE HOOP, and cut away excess fabric on top aswell as underneath the hoop. Stitch color number 9, which is the satin stitches around your leaves. Remove hoop from machine and cut design carefully out of the stabilizer. If you are using cutaway, carefully burn away any fuzzies, if you are using water soluble vilene, wash away all stabilizer and dry flat.
